This is YOUR opportunity to participate in building the future of YOUR community!!
Want to learn more about future development in Peers? We welcome your input.
The Peers Area Structure Plan will affect:
- New developments and subdivisions
- Recreational usage of land
- Residential development and
- Commercial and Industrial Development
- Community long-term growth
The purpose of this public consultation is to introduce the land-use process and have a good discussion about community enhancement, opportunities/ constraints to development and types of land use that might be appropriate. It is also a chance for the community to better understand the background information gathered to date regarding development capability, environmental considerations and current government policy.
The Peers ASP 2017 Local Steering Committee recruited by Yellowhead County consists of:
Marion Huggins, Kevin Chapman and area councillor David Russell.
County support staff include Brent Shepherd and Kelly Jensen.
Frank Liszczak of Matrix Planning is the planning consultant.
You are invited to review the 2002 Peers Area Structure Plan (see the Peers Study-Area map). While there is an existing ASP from 2002, the County has since upgraded water, sewer and stormwater services plus constructed a beautiful new Multiplex. These investments create an opportunity for future development and community enhancement, so this is a good time to update the ASP. At this early stage, no plan has yet been prepared. Rather, the first step in the process is to have a discussion with local and surrounding residents on their thoughts and ideas about the future evolution of Peers.
