As a Paid-On-Call (POC) volunteer firefighter you'll respond to emergency incidents within the region to provide fire suppression and rescue services to the residents and visitors of Yellowhead County. As a firefighter, you will receive accredited training allowing you to operate state of the art equipment providing critical services to Yellowhead County and its partners.

Paid on Call Volunteer firefighters are members of our team who play a key role in the delivery of fire services to Yellowhead County. Paid on Call Volunteer firefighters respond to fires, rescues, hazardous materials, and a host of other calls to aid the public. The Yellowhead County Fire department responds to approximately 500 + events annually. Apart from direct support to emergency operations, our firefighters contribute countless hours of volunteer time in support of community activities.
Our Paid on Call Volunteer firefighters are trained to meet in house standards which are internationally recognized. The requirement to operate on emergency scenes and deliver the best service possible to the community means that our firefighters are well trained to perform their duties.

Work is conducted in a combination of office environment, fire station environment and field/outdoor environment, depending on the task being performed. Applicants must be 18 years of age, no previous experience and no minimum time commitment required.
