Edson and District Curling Club Presentation \ Trails Master Plan \ Landfill Authority 2019 Interim Capital and Operating Budgets \ First Reading of Public Notification Bylaw \ 2019 Interim Budget Adoption \ Composite and Local Assessment Review Boards Appointments
Edson and District Curling Club Presentation – Representatives from the Edson and District Curling Club presented to council in response to concerns that the new Edson-Yellowhead County joint recreation facility may forgo curling amenities. The representatives discussed the history of curling in Edson, the perceived needs and wants of the club (in a new facility), potential ways to increase revenue at the rink and potential economic stimuli for local business, and increasing wellness and recreational opportunities locally, among other topics.
Trails Master Plan – Yellowhead County Council adopted “Our Trails Future” as a guiding document for administration. The document details the trails annual capital and operational budget and future work plan county hamlets and greater area. Please visit the county website to review the trails master plan document.
Landfill Authority 2019 Interim Capital and Operating Budgets – Council formally adopted both the West Yellowhead Regional Waste Management Landfill Authority 2019 Interim Capital and Operating budgets. Please visit Yellowhead County’s website (CivicWeb Portal) to see a detailed breakdown of both budgets.
First Reading of Public Notification Bylaw – County council gave first reading to Bylaw 07.18, the Public Notification Bylaw. This would allow county administration to advertise a bylaw, resolution, meeting, public hearing, or something else, by one or more methods, including by electronic advertising. This does not mean that the county intends to forgo newspaper advertising, but to advertise conjunctly. A Public Hearing will be held on January 22nd, 2019.
2019 Interim Budget Adoption – Council adopted the 2019 Interim Budget, in the total amount of $139,705,115 to be effective January 1, 2019.
Composite and Local Assessment Review Boards Appointments – Council appointed Brian Broughton, Mark Mitchell, Sandra Cherniawsky, and David Russell to the Composite and Local Assessment Review Boards for the period of January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020.
